When I was a little girl I turned to sweets and breads whenever I felt worried or lonely. My mother affectionally called me, 'The Chub'. At age 7, I snuck money from my Dad's wallet and walked straight to the candy store. My mother later found the hidden loot which ended my life of crime...but not the sugar cravings.
Puberty hormones relieved the extra weight, but as a young woman, my high carb - high sugar, vegetarian diet left me with energy crashes and terrible mood swings. When I began nutrition studies in my late thirties and finally learned what my body really needed, I stepped out of the vicious cycle of carb cravings and my energy and moods stabilized.
Now that I'm postmenopausal and hormones have changed again, I can gain weight with remarkable ease, and willpower alone doesn't work for cravings. However, through applying the scientific and intuitive skills I've learned, I've now reached an even deeper peace with food and my body.
so that I can actively steward my 5 woodland acres, enjoy my work, and feel excited about life even in troubled times.
